Who we are
Reach Beyond Adventure was formed in 2008 by Ross Wallace. and Sue Wallace The business is managed by Ross Wallace who has worked within the outdoor industry for over 15 years managing and delivering activities, events and experiences to individuals and businesses. Our philosophy of the outdoors
Our philosophy is that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the outdoors from games in the woods to climbing a mountain and have fun whilst doing it!
We value the fantastic diversity the UK environment offers us and believe that through these exceptional and stunning landscapes there is always opportunity for fun, adventure, challenge and learning. The outdoors offers a true leveller whether it is for bringing a work team together or having a shared family experience the uniqueness of the natural world combined with our outstanding activities, programmes and courses will leave everlasting memories.

Our team
With over 15 associate staff, Reach Beyond Adventure has a highly professional and enthusiastic team, qualified across all areas of outdoor adventure and development training including: mountaineering, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, gill scrambling, expeditioning, team problem solving and first aid.
Staff qualifications:
We hold nationally recognised qualifications from governing bodies and organisations including: British Canoe Union, Mountain Leader Training UK, Royal Yachting Associations, Grand National Archery Society. We are also a member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) and many of our staff are Accredited Practitioners of IOL.
Staff & associate organisations:
All staff are both highly experienced and qualified within the activity they provide. We believe that staff should remain current within their area of expertise and we actively encourage continuous professional development. We provide associate training days and trips awat to promote effective teamworking, networking and rapport building.
The team:
Ross Wallace
Ross has worked across the UK for over 15 years providing outdoor experiential learning opportunities for individuals and teams. He is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning (APIOL) and previously held the prestigious position of National Training Manager for Outward Bound® (UK).
Ross now divides his time between running his two businesses Reach Beyond Adventure and Lakes First Aid, working as an associate instructor, trainer and part time lecturer.
Ross is well qualified holding a range of national mountaineering, climbing, canoeing and sailing qualifications. He is an accredited Bushcraft Practitioner, Yacht Skipper and Powerboat Instructor.
Ross believes that everyone has the potential to achieve more and that a creative and supportive environment can be the foundation for some of the greatest personal development opportunities. Ross values the importance of making time to both reflect and learn from experience, something of we could always do more of and that the most rewarding experiences are seeing someone else achieving their potential.
Ross is well travelled and has worked or undertaken adventurous activities in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and Thailand. He lives with his family in Cumbria and says that some of the best adventures he has had are with his children who never cease to amaze him in their approach to learning and adventure!
SueWallace
Sue works part time for the Reach Beyond Adventure managing the operations, bookings, logistics and marketing. She is also a full time mum, Paediatric Occupational Therapist and part of a three-person private Occupational Therapy team (girl power!)
Sue has exceptional knowledge and understanding of the business and brings over 20 years experience of working within the health sector with children and adults of all abilities.
Sue also helps run a private occupational business Thumbs Up For Therapy which offers private occupational services to children and is currently developing a programme in conjunction with our outdoor activities to offer enhanced learning opportunities for children with co-ordination difficulties / dyspraxia.
Jason Beverley
Jason is our longest serving associate and has worked with Reach Beyond Adventure from the very beginning.
As someone who runs his own outdoor business, Jason brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to Reach Beyond Adventure. He also acts as our technical advisor in across many of our activities in particularly Mountain Activities.
Jason is an experienced mountain guide, kayaker, canoeist and sailor who is at his best in the rugged outdoors.
